Saw Auckland in the day, much better. Picked up my car from GO rentals for $25 NZ/day ($21 cdn), grabbed a new phone number 64 (0)21 105 0612 and headed South to Taupo. Saw an ugly cop car every 50 km, way more speeder in NZ so I'll be fine here.
UNBELIEVEABLE scenery changes every 20 km!!!
Stopped in Rotorua to check out some Black Swans.
Stayed at Tiki Lodge in Taupo (my car in the shot) where I ran into Scott and Carey from Byron Bay and Andy from Adelaide. Hostel is really nice and clean as you would expect in a smaller lakeside town. Did the usual backpacker pub to pub route with some foosball on the side.
